DENIS A. ENGEL worked as a legal assistant at this firm prior to graduating from St. John’s Law School in 1993. After working for two other law firms, primarily as a litigator, he rejoined the firm as an associate in September 1995. Mr. Engel became a partner at Colleran, O’Hara & Mills on January 1, 2003. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Engel graduated from S.U.N.Y. Albany and was a high school English teacher from 1984 to 1990.

Mr. Engel was admitted to practice in New York in 1994. He is also admitted before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States District Courts of New Jersey and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Mr. Engel has represented various unions, including those in industries as diverse as construction and transportation. He has litigated and arbitrated cases for both unions and Taft-Hartley benefit funds. He negotiates complex collective bargaining agreements, including for TWU Local 100, the largest transit union in the United States. He is counsel to the Transport Workers Union of America.

Mr. Engel serves as a member of the Board of Advisors of the Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution at Cornell University.
