Colleran, O’Hara & Mills was founded by Richard L. O’Hara in 1963. Since its inception our firm has represented labor organizations, their related fringe benefit funds, and individual union members, both in their employment and in private legal matters.

Colleran, O’Hara & Mills has over five decades of experience representing labor organizations in both the public and private sector, including all aspects of collective bargaining, contract enforcement through grievance process and arbitration, representation proceedings, elections and the representation of a labor organization as a legal entity and any and all litigation which might attend those functions.
Colleran, O’Hara & Mills continues to service a broad spectrum of clients in the labor movement in the New York Metropolitan Area. Our current union clients include: Labor organizations with members that work in the following industries: construction; transportation; food and commercial work; facilities maintenance; radio, television and broadcast; sports and entertainment facilities; as well as related umbrella organizations.
Colleran O’Hara & Mills led the way in the areas of pension, health and annuity funds, pre-paid legal services funds, apprenticeship funds, and a range of supplemental funds including vacation funds, additional benefit funds, scholarship funds and mortgage programs for fund participants. In the past several years, the firm’s litigation practice has become more diversified, successfully representing clients in both federal and state courts. Additionally, the firm continues to litigate commercial and intellectual property issues for American Casting Company, Plainview, New York.
Collective bargaining is an essential component of effective labor representation. Our experience with labor-management relations, along with our understanding of the wants and needs of labor unions, allows us to effectively represent our clients’ interests during collective bargaining negotiations.
